Дисертаційна праця презентує цілісну реконструкцію еволюції відносин між Україною та Організацією Північноатлантичного договору в історико- політичному та історико-військовому вимірах упродовж 1991–2022 років. Дослідження зосереджене на виявленні закономірностей трансформації України від реципієнта безпекових консультацій до статусу активного суб’єкта й стратегічного донора трансатлантичної стабільності. Актуальність дослідження зумовлена глибоким переформатуванням архітектури євроатлантичного безпекового простору, у межах якого досвід України у протидії повномасштабній агресії російської федерації став вагомим чинником модернізації системи колективної оборони Заходу. У роботі доведено, що в умовах руйнування попередньої системи міжнародного права та триваючого ревізіонізму з боку росії євроатлантична інтеграція України постає як безальтернативний механізм гарантування національного суверенітету. Особливу значущість дослідженню надає концептуалізація переходу від декларативного партнерства до етапу практичної взаємосумісності, що дозволяє розглядати вступ України до Альянсу не лише як засіб захисту територіальної цілісності, а й як фінальний етап консолідації європейського безпекового простору. Мета роботи полягала у здійсненні комплексного наукового аналізу історичної еволюції та стратегічної трансформації відносин між Україною та НАТО в умовах глобальних геополітичних зрушень кінця XX – початку XXI століття. На основі репрезентативної джерельної бази реконструйовано цілісний генезис взаємодії України з Альянсом: від початкових форм співробітництва до формату поглибленого стратегічного партнерства. Дослідження спрямоване на виявлення закономірностей перетворення України з об’єкта міжнародних впливів у провідного суб’єкта трансатлантичної безпеки, а також на концептуальне обґрунтування взаємної стратегічної цінності інтеграції держави до Альянсу як критичного фактора цілісності європейської безпекової архітектури. Методологічну основу дисертації становить поєднання принципів історизму та наукової об’єктивності із системним підходом. Використання порівняльно-історичного, ретроспективного та проблемно-хронологічного методів дозволило простежити динаміку інституційних змін та верифікувати ключові етапи військово-політичного зближення сторін у заявлених хронологічних межах. Логіка реалізації поставлених завдань відображена у структурі дисертації. Зокрема, у першому розділі «Стан наукової розробки, джерельна база та методологія дослідження» здійснено критичний аналіз вітчизняного та зарубіжного історіографічного доробку. З’ясовано, що наукова парадигма вивчення відносин Україна – НАТО пройшла шлях від опису формальних інституційних механізмів у 1990-х роках до комплексного дослідження гібридних загроз та операційної взаємосумісності після 2014 року. Систематизовано репрезентативну джерельну базу, що охоплює стратегічні концепції Альянсу та нормативно-правові акти України, які дозволяють забезпечити високу достовірність та об’єктивність авторських висновків. The dissertation presents a comprehensive reconstruction of the evolution of relations between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in historicalpolitical and historical-military dimensions throughout 1991–2022. The study focuses on identifying the patterns of Ukraine's transformation from a recipient of security consultations to an active subject and a strategic donor of transatlantic stability. The relevance of the research is determined by the profound reshaping of the Euro-Atlantic security architecture, within which Ukraine's experience in countering the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation has become a significant factor in modernizing the Western collective defense system. The work proves that under the conditions of the collapse of the previous international law system and ongoing Russian revisionism, Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration emerges as an alternative-free mechanism for guaranteeing national sovereignty. Special significance is given to the conceptualization of the transition from declarative partnership to the stage of practical interoperability, which allows viewing Ukraine's accession to the Alliance not only as a means of protecting territorial integrity but as the final stage of consolidating the European security space. The aim of the work was to provide a comprehensive scientific analysis of the historical evolution and strategic transformation of Ukraine-NATO relations amid global geopolitical shifts of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Based on a representative source base, the integral genesis of interaction between Ukraine and the Alliance is reconstructed: from initial forms of cooperation to the format of an enhanced strategic partnership. The study aims to identify the patterns of Ukraine's transformation from an object of international influences into a leading subject of transatlantic security, as well as to conceptually justify the mutual strategic value of the state's integration into the Alliance as a critical factor for the integrity of the European security architecture. The methodological basis of the dissertation is a combination of the principles of historicism and scientific objectivity with a systems approach. The use of comparative-historical, retrospective, and problem-chronological methods allowed for tracing the dynamics of institutional changes and verifying the key stages of militarypolitical convergence within the stated chronological boundaries. The logic of implementing the tasks is reflected in the dissertation structure. In the first chapter, "State of Scientific Development, Source Base, and Research Methodology," a critical analysis of domestic and foreign historiography is conducted. It is established that the scientific paradigm for studying Ukraine-NATO relations evolved from describing formal institutional mechanisms in the 1990s to a comprehensive study of hybrid threats and operational interoperability after 2014. A representative source base has been systematized, covering the Alliance's strategic concepts and Ukraine's regulatory acts, ensuring high reliability of the author's conclusions. The second chapter reconstructs the process of Ukraine's entry into the Euro- Atlantic security space after the collapse of the bipolar system. It is argued that in the absence of interest from Asian power centers and the emergence of a "security vacuum," cooperation with NATO became the only viable mechanism for Kyiv to escape international isolation. Particular attention is paid to the "nuclear dilemma" and the Budapest Memorandum, identified as a factor of strategic awakening for Ukrainian elites and a catalyst for seeking effective security guarantees. The third chapter traces the dynamics of relations from the signing of the Charter on a Distinctive Partnership to the beginning of Russian aggression in 2014. The nonlinear nature of the Euro-Atlantic course is revealed, driven by fluctuations between the "multi-vector" strategy and periods of diplomatic stagnation. The destructive impact of the "non-bloc status" policy is proven, as it artificially hindered defense sector reforms and is identified as a stage of lost opportunities that led to a decrease in national resilience on the eve of military challenges.
